The Faculty of Business Management at the University of Economics in Bratislava (FPM EUBA) has once again reaffirmed its commitment to systematically linking academic knowledge with the world of business practice.

In the 2024–2025 academic year, students in both bachelor’s and master’s programs were able to take elective courses taught by experts from renowned companies, international institutions, the financial and diplomatic sectors, as well as the fields of innovation and sustainable business.

I. Undergraduate Program: Experience in Both Corporations and Social Entrepreneurship

Among the innovative elective courses were those offered by AmCham Slovakia and the Business Service Center Forum (“Hands-on HR: Global Trends and Skills for Success—From University to the Workplace”). FPM students met with instructors from companies such as IBM, Dell, Siemens, Adient, PwC, and Accenture and developed skills essential for employability and success in a modern corporate environment.

Lenovo offered the course “Personal Development: Case Studies,” where students learned practical HR skills, personal branding, and business ethics. Philip Morris Slovakia provided an inside look at recruitment and employee well-being as part of the “HR Recruitment Process.”

Lecturer Olívia Hurbanová received a great response for her course “Leadership Challenges in the 21st Century,” which integrated behavioral sciences, management, and a vision for social progress.

The course “Entrepreneurship Through the Eyes of UniCredit Bank” provided a glimpse into corporate banking and the work of a financial manager. Collaboration with COOP Jednota Slovensko and members of cooperative organizations enabled students to understand the economic and legal specifics of cooperative entrepreneurship.

The course “Current Trends in Environmental and Social Entrepreneurship” provided real-world experience with sustainable business models, discussions with leaders, and the opportunity to establish collaborations for their final projects.

II. Field of study: Managerial Decision-Making, Finance, Diplomacy

The engineering degree program at FPM EUBA has reaffirmed its connection to financial practice. The Slovak Association of Financial Professionals sponsored the course “Corporate Financial Management – Case Studies,” which was taught primarily on company premises and focused on discussions about ESG, AML, treasury, digitalization, and current financial challenges.
IBM offered the course “IBM Financial Centers,” which combined analytical skills, critical thinking, and an understanding of global financial processes.

The course “Corporate Controlling,” led by ESET, was also a resounding success, with students discussing the impact of controlling on sustainability and a company’s strategic direction.

The course “Attributes of Business in International Practice,” conducted in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, enabled students to explore the business environment in an international context directly through the experiences of ambassadors and experts from the international business community.

Finally, Henkel introduced students to its financial processes as part of the course “Henkel’s Financial Processes,” held directly at the company’s facilities, where theoretical knowledge was applied to real-world case study scenarios.

FPM EUBA: Preparing for the 21st-Century Job Market

The EUBA Faculty of Business Management has thus once again demonstrated that combining a high-quality academic foundation with real-world practical experience is the key to educating successful and socially responsible professionals. The knowledge, contacts, and experience our students gain give them a competitive advantage as they enter the global job market.
We are ready to continue this tradition in the coming academic year—together with our partners from the business world.
