On May 20–21, 2025, the Department of Business Economics at the Faculty of Business Management of the University of Economics in Bratislava organized a unique two-day workshop in connection with the development of new degree programs focused on management issues in the energy sector.
The workshop effectively combined expert presentations, a practical field trip, and enjoyable group activities in an attractive setting. The program began in the pleasant atmosphere of Ranč u Bobiho in Nový Tekov, where an expert presentation was held on the highly topical subject of modular nuclear reactors and developments in the electricity market. Karol Kažimír, Business Development Manager at NEWCLEO, shared his valuable insights and experience with us. The lecture sparked an intense professional discussion among the participants, who had the opportunity to analyze current challenges and opportunities in the energy sector.
In addition to the professional program, department members had the opportunity to take a horse-drawn carriage ride, and they concluded the day with a fun bowling night, which strengthened team bonds and created a pleasant atmosphere.
The second day was devoted to a tour of the Mochovce Nuclear Power Plant. The tour began with a presentation by Róbert Holý, the team leader for communications and public relations at the nuclear power plant, who provided participants with a valuable overview of the current situation and prospects for the development of the energy sector and nuclear energy in Slovakia, as well as within the European Union. We were accompanied throughout the tour by Daniela Adamcová, the communications coordinator, whose professional and welcoming approach ensured that the entire visit proceeded smoothly and pleasantly. Thanks to this, participants had the opportunity to get a detailed look at the plant’s most important operational areas, while all strict safety rules and measures were strictly adhered to.
The tour included a visit to the primary circuit—the reactor—where the group was guided by shift foreman Lukáš Žigmond, who enthusiastically provided detailed information and answered all of the participants’ questions. This was followed by a tour of the secondary circuit in the machine room, where we received a detailed explanation of the steam heating process from shift supervisor Viktor Vanyo. The highlight of the program was a visit to the reactor control room simulator, where we were guided by Gustáv Homola, an instructor for training on the reactor control room simulator. The simulator is used for the practical training of future nuclear power plant operators, which was a valuable experience for the participants in terms of linking theoretical knowledge with the practical skills required in actual plant operations.
