Elective Course for Students of the Faculty of Business Management in Collaboration with Henkel.
The elective course “Henkel Financial Processes” offers students of the Faculty of Business Management a unique opportunity to gain insight into the functioning of financial processes within a multinational corporation and to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world practice. The course is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the financial flows and management mechanisms that underpin the day-to-day operations of a global enterprise.
Students will gain a comprehensive overview of the interconnected activities in the areas of controlling, accounting, purchasing, and procurement, with an emphasis on understanding their significance within the broader context of business management.
Throughout the course, students develop not only specialized knowledge but also practical skills essential for their future careers. They will gain familiarity with financial processes, learn to work with financial data, and calculate selected financial indicators, the interpretation of which is crucial for managerial decision-making. The course also includes the development of presentation skills, as students communicate their analyses and conclusions through ongoing and final assignments.
The course content is divided into thematic modules that systematically cover the main areas of financial processes within a company. The introductory blocks are devoted to controlling activities, including planning, budgeting, and performance evaluation. Students then become familiar with the Source-to-Pay process, which encompasses the company’s procurement management and payment processing, as well as the Order-to-Cash process, which focuses on order management, invoicing, and collecting payments from customers.
The next part of the course focuses on general accounting and its various areas, providing students with an overview of accounting operations in practice. Instruction continues with the topic of Trade Finance, which explores the financial aspects of business transactions and relationships. The course concludes with a block dedicated to students’ final presentations, in which they apply the knowledge they have acquired to solve specific assignments.
The course “Henkel Financial Processes” thus represents a modern approach to teaching finance that reflects current practical needs while also developing students’ analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
