The Faculty of Business Management is one of the faculties of the University of Economics in Bratislava, which provides higher economic education with an orientation on the preparation of managers and economists for the corporate and business sphere.
The faculty conducts admission procedures only for accredited study programmes within the framework of bachelor's studies, engineering studies and doctoral studies.
According to Act No 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and on Amendments and Additions to Certain Acts, as amended, higher education studies are 3-level. Level 1 is a bachelor's degree, the standard length of which is three years. Level 2 is an engineering degree, the standard length of which is two years, and level 3 is a doctoral degree. The standard length of a full-time doctoral degree is three years and the standard length of an external doctoral degree is five years. Studies at the University of Economics are organised on the basis of the credit system in accordance with the Decree on the Credit System of Studies.

Profile of a graduate of the study program Business Economics and Management
Graduates of the bachelor's degree program in "Business Economics and Management" and "Economics and Management in Energy" are qualified to hold professional economic positions in the business sphere, management positions at lower and middle management levels that require basic knowledge of the economic context of business activities, supplemented by key aspects of financial, information, and overall economic, managerial, and information literacy. With their competence, they can fulfill the mission of a person capable of independent economic and managerial thinking. With a critical view of economic processes and phenomena, they are able to analyze causes, identify partial solutions, and, in cooperation with other team members, contribute to the generation and implementation of solutions to specific economic and managerial tasks. Thanks to their analytical skills, complemented by their mastery of selected IS/IT products, they are able to participate in work meetings, where they can present the results of their analyses as well as specific solutions they have arrived at by applying various management disciplines. The graduate's language competence is demonstrated not only in their ability to search for available information in various language versions, but also in their involvement in teamwork and discussions, in arguing for solutions and promoting professional opinions.
They can apply their knowledge in managing small teams or as support staff in selected functional departments of a company. Graduates of this study program have the opportunity to find immediate employment in business or are qualified for further university study. The economic and business skills they acquire make them ideal for self-employment and developing small (family) businesses. A set of economic and managerial knowledge, with an emphasis on basic topics in the field of business economics and management theories, supplemented by selected issues of financial management and a comprehensive range of information literacy and presentation techniques, enables them to represent business practice in other areas of economic life in an appropriate manner.
Educational objectives:
- acquiring a theoretical foundation in business economics, management, corporate finance, and business informatics with the ability to apply it in practice in the business environment and developing knowledge of the international perspective on these issues;
- the ability to identify, sort, analyze, and process relevant information about the current situation of a business entity, the ability to critically evaluate, present, communicate, and interpret conclusions in two foreign languages;
- the ability to navigate the economic environment; organize the work of a small team, monitor new information in the field and use it in practical activities, and ensure compliance with ethical principles;
- the ability to think entrepreneurially and develop small businesses while adhering to the principles of social responsibility.
Profile of graduates of the study program Economics and Management in Energy
Graduates of the first stage of the study programme Economics and Management in Energy Sector will be equipped with basic multidisciplinary knowledge that is essential for orientation and effective decision-making in the energy sector. The technical part of the programme covers the fields of natural sciences, electrical engineering, materials and digital technologies. The complementary part of the programme provides an overview of the basic economic principles of micro- and macro-economics, management strategies, entrepreneurial skills and financial aspects that are critical for successful operation in the energy sector.
The graduate will be able to critically reassess the current state of the technical focus of the field, will be able to find solutions in professional problems of industrial practice, master modern information-communication technologies and be able to use them appropriately in their work. In symbiosis with managerial, economic and basic legal awareness, he will be prepared to play a relevant role in complex decision-making processes in the field of energy, including the financial aspect and the impact of decisions on other entities operating in the sector.
The graduate will be ready to enter working life in the energy sector or to continue studying at a higher level (engineering study), where he can further develop his knowledge and skills and specialize. Graduates will be able to think critically, to make decisions in companies and companies operating in the energy sector. The graduate can apply his/her knowledge in the management of small teams or as a support worker of selected business units.

- ability to orientate in both the energy and economic environment, organize the work of a smaller team, monitor and economically evaluate new information and trends in the energy sector;
- acquisition of a theoretical basis in the field of business economics, accounting, controlling, managerial skills and economic information systems with the ability to use the acquired knowledge in energy and economic practice.
- ability to apply management techniques and business strategies for effective management of energy projects;
- gaining knowledge about the structure of the electricity system, about the operating states in the electricity networks, about the basic installations of the electricity system and nuclear installations;
- acquisition of a theoretical basis from the production of electricity in conventional and renewable sources and the acquisition of knowledge of the use of electricity;
- ability to assess electricity systems and installations, nuclear installations from the point of view of their environmental impacts and to assess the efficiency of their operation.
Profile of a graduate of the Real Estate Management study program
A graduate of the professionally oriented bachelor’s study programme Real Estate Management acquires comprehensive knowledge, skills, and competencies required for work across a broad spectrum of activities related to the real estate market. The education reflects the interdisciplinary nature of the real estate field, integrating insights from economics, law, marketing, technical disciplines, and management.
The graduate understands the functioning of the real estate market, the dynamics of demand and supply, pricing mechanisms, and investment opportunities in the property sector. They possess sound knowledge of legal regulations relating to ownership and contractual relations, cadastral procedures, as well as fundamental understanding of taxation and real estate financing. They are able to navigate sales, lease, and brokerage contracts and other types of legal documents used in real estate practice, explain their content to clients, and collaborate effectively with legal and financial professionals in the preparation and review of documentation.
In the field of business and marketing skills, the graduate is equipped to represent clients’ interests, conduct negotiations on optimal pricing, design marketing strategies for selling or renting real estate, and apply digital tools (such as online listings, virtual tours, CRM systems). They master the principles of professional communication, can build long-term client relationships, and act with ethics and transparency.
The graduate also possesses basic technical knowledge of real estate properties and is capable of assessing their condition, identifying necessary adjustments or renovations, and estimating their investment potential. They have competencies in property management and maintenance, planning of development projects, and formulation of investment strategies.
The acquired education enables the graduate to pursue careers as a real estate agent, manager of a real estate agency or real estate entrepreneur, project manager in development and construction companies, real estate consultant in investment and advisory firms, or real estate specialist in financial institutions and various sectors of public administration, including municipal building authorities. Thanks to the programme’s flexible course structure and opportunities for academic mobility, graduates are well prepared to work in an international environment and to continue their studies at the master’s level.
Educational objectives:
- to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in business economics, finance, property management, real estate brokerage, valuation of real estate, investment strategies, as well as in the field of legal regulations related to transfers of ownership, lease agreements, cadastre, building legislation, taxation, commercial and contractual conditions relevant to real estate business;
- to develop the ability to work with documents, data and information for the management and analysis of real estate portfolios, supported by information and communication technologies;
- to strengthen the ability to evaluate stimuli from the business environment and respond adequately to changes in demand and supply in the real estate market, to identify new trends and developmental tendencies;
- to form professional and ethical behaviour in the provision of real estate services and representation of clients’ business interests.
